MY CHILD HAS A DISABILITY

Depending on the nature of your child’s disability, they may still achieve full continence albeit later than their peers. Discuss this with their specialist doctor in the first instance.

If your child’s disability prevents them from becoming fully clean and dry, they may be entitled to continence product provision (nappies, pads or washable training pants). Discuss your child’s condition with your school nurse who may go on to complete a continence assessment to determine whether your child meets the criteria for this service. We do not supply nappies, pads or other products until a child has reached their fifth birthday. Each child’s needs will be reassessed every six months. Should they require products after their 19th birthday, the responsibility for reassessment will transfer to the district nursing service.
