• The HADS is a tool used to screen for anxiety and depression. It is similar to the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Screening (EPDS).
• It Is one questionnaire, comprising of fourteen questions
• Unlike the EPDS, the HADS will give a score for both depression and anxiety. This makes it easier for the screener to signpost the patient to the most appropriate agency
• The HADS tool can be used on any person, any age, gender, culture as long as they are Gillick competent
• By using HADS, we as a service are ensuring we offer a standardised approach to screening for depression and anxiety
