Health Visiting

THREE MONTHS

At around three months you can expect your child to be able to do the following:

 

Physical

  • Lifts head and chest when lying on tummy
  • Holds head unsupported
  • Will hold a toy for a few moments

 

Cognitive

  • Looks at hands and will clasp them together
  • Watches adults and follows them with eyes and head
  • Can show happiness/sadness

 

Social and emotional

  • Quietens to sound of familiar voice
  • Smiles
  • Enjoys bathing and other routines
  • Stares at parents whilst being fed

 

Speech and Language

  • Turns head to locate sound i.e. voice or a rattle
  • Makes noises when happy
